Father writes up hilariously detailed contract about a dog

'Dad never has to pick up dog poop. Ever.' Father writes up hilariously detailed contract his three young children have to sign before they are allowed a puppyA father reluctant to buy his three young children a pet dog has written up a hilariously elaborate contract to ensure he never has to do any dirty work.

Reddit user John Stone, from the US, shared the strict terms his children had to agree to before they got their wish and welcomed a four-legged friend to the family home.

'Dad never has to pick up dog poop. Ever,' the first term states.

The children, 10, 11 and 13, must clean up dog droppings three times per week to 'dad's satisfaction'.

The dog must not have a running nose or slobber, because, according to the contract, 'all parties agree that those kind of dogs are gross'.

The dog must not shed hair and Mr Stone has nonrestrictive veto power over the dog's name.

The animal isn't included by name on the family Christmas card and it is never referred to as a child or sibling because: 'All parties agree that the dog is a dog'.

Two weeks after the contract was signed, true to his word, Mr Stone got his children a young mutt.

'We got a three-year-old white fluffy mutt from a shelter that weighs 15 lbs., was already house trained and doesn't shed or drool,' he posted on Reddit.

'We named him Kershaw (veto power not exercised). It's been two years, and the kids (now ages 12, 13 and 15) have been pretty good about doing everything.

'Everyone (including Dad) adores the dog, which has been a fantastic addition to (though not member of) our family.'

The contract has caused a stir on social media with nearly 500 users commenting on Reddit.

'This is hilarious because you just know that the dad will actually end up calling the dog his child/grandchild,' one user posted.

'I think I know what kind of dog you're looking for. It's called a cat,' another said.
