Stylish Priscilla and Poppleton, from Jacksonville, Florida, are hogging the limelight as Instagram's most famous pet piggies.

The cute duo have amassed a fan base of 626,000 on the photo-sharing site where they can be seen posing at the beach in 'pigkinis' or as 'pigs in blankets.'

Owner Melissa Nicholson, 43, fell in love with the animals after visiting a farm as a student at the The University of Alabama.

She said: 'I am truly blessed to be able to share these precious piggies with others all over the world. The love people have for them is amazing.

'I get comments daily on what a bright spot they are in so many people's days - this is what keeps me going.

Their owner captures them in all sorts of poses - including sleeping on her bed

'Knowing that someone might be in hospital but that they will smile when they see Prissy and Pop.

'I also have a lot of people tell me they don't eat pork anymore because of Prissy and Pop.'

The latest editions to her pig family are six-month old Primrose and Pinkerton who are also proving a huge hit.

Fashionista Priscilla is known for wearing pearls, bows and the colour pink in many of her glamorous shoots.

Most of the trendy wardrobe are actually dog clothes that come from local pet stores or online shops - but they seem to fit perfectly.

Schoolteacher Melissa even takes her piggies to her classroom as class pets.

Melissa fell in love with her porcine pals when she met them at the University of Alabama

The adorable pair are her beloved pets, and thousands of Instagram followers track their progress

She said: 'They have been wearing clothes since they were babies. I've even dressed them up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 for Dr. Seuss' birthday.

'They dress up for every holiday.

They are surrounded by pig paraphernalia - including this dustpan and brush

'They are not dressed up when they are just hanging out at home and they do wear comfortable shirts and dresses to school, because the students love to see what they are wearing.

'They even have a school uniform similar to the kids.'

The pigs also have their own children's book called 'Prissy and Pop Big Day Out,' and a clothing with logos like 'Pop for president.'
